Uganda welcomes baby tigers

Uganda welcomed two new members to its tiger family. The Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) in Entebbe, the sole home of tigers in East Africa, received a pair of newborns on September 22, 2023. These cubs, born to Brown, the mother, and Yura, the father, are in good health and thriving.

Tigers and other large cats can give birth to varying numbers of cubs. Therefore, when two cubs are born, they are not considered twins but simply two cubs. This fact adds an intriguing dimension to wildlife knowledge!

A naming ceremony for the cubs is planned for the near future. Fravan Safaris offers day excursions that include a visit to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center as part of our  Entebbe tours. Visitors can explore more than just Africa’s youngest striped cats at the center.
